5th ISRFG
| |
|
Program & Conference
We are pleased to announce the 5th International Symposium of Rice Functional Genomics (ISRFG) to be held on October 15-17, 2007, just after the rice harvesting season in Japan. The venue will be at Epochal Tsukuba International Congress Center in Tsukuba, Ibaraki Prefecture, about 50 km north of Tokyo. he completion of the rice genome sequence has intensified exciting researches that focus on clarifying the function of every rice genes in the context of complex regulatory networks, metabolic pathways, and interactive biological systems. Therefore, we hope to bring together rice researchers from all over the world, as well as researchers of other cereal crops, to tackle diverse areas of functional genomics based on structural, comparative, evolutionary and bioinformatics approaches. This meeting will include several oral sessions, two poster sessions, and evening workshops. Each oral session will include invited speakers and speakers selected from submitted abstracts. ... 2nd International Symposium on Rice Functional Genomics
| |
|
Program & Conference
Rice is the most important food crop in the world and an important experimental system for genomics research. The completion of the genome sequence of rice, in December 2004, opens a new and exciting chapter in our quest to functionally characterize all of the approximately 50,000 genes in rice. A systematic approach to characterizing these genes will allow us to dissect and understand the regulatory networks and evolutionary selection controlling such complex traits as yield, biotic and abiotic stresses, reproductive barriers, epigenetics and flowering time. To celebrate the completion of the rice genome and learn about the latest developments in structural, functional and evolutionary genomics research we will host the 2nd Annual Symposium on Rice Functional Genomics in Tucson, Arizona on November 15-17th. The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute
| |
|
Bioinformatics
The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute is one of the leading genomics centres in the world, dedicated to analysing and understanding genomes. Through large-scale analysis - and focused research and collaborations - the Sanger Institute's programmes underpin biological and medical research worldwide. Formerly the Sanger Centre, the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute was founded in 1993 by the Wellcome Trust and the UK Medical Research Council (MRC). The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute is a non-trading, non-profit making registered charity involved in biomedical research. The vast majority of our funding is now provided by the Wellcome Trust, who announced in October 2001 an award of 300 million pounds sterling (430 million US dollars) to support the Institute from 2001 to 2006.
